American History Movies

via
Wow, two American history films are coming out next month and like the geek I am, I'm excited.

1) Meek's Cutoff - Release Date: April 8th.  It's 1845 and a group of people (Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, etc.) are heading west.  Looks like Oregon Trail + the Donner Party ... yikes.

2) The Conspirator - Release date: April 15th.  Directed by Robert Redford, this film follows Mary Surratt (played by Robin Wright), the only woman hanged for the conspiracy to plan and carry out Lincoln's murder.  Surratt was only a peripheral figure in Manhunt and I'm looking forward to learning more about her.
