On This Day in History ...

On February 7, 1964 at 1:20 PM PanAm flight 101 touched down at JFK.  On board were the BEATLES, arriving for their first US visit.  Six days earlier "I Want to Hold Your Hand" became their first song to go #1 on the US charts.

Paul McCartney later recalled, "There were millions of kids at the airport, which nobody had expected. We heard about it in mid-air. There were journalists on the plane, and the pilot had rang ahead and said, 'Tell the boys there's a big crowd waiting for them.' We thought, 'Wow! God, we have really made it.'"

Two nights later they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show.

PS. Paul is my favorite Beatle.
